Founded in May 2012 with the publication of our first book, Baby, Read Me Something with Rhythm, by founder, Carla Christopher, PoemSugar Press has grown to represent the very best in South Central Pennsylvania poetry, both for its readers AND its authors!​

PoemSugar Press is an independent publishing imprint. That means that we select, edit, produce, publish and market our own collections. That means if we believe we can do something, we get to do it. If no one has ever done it before, all the better! PoemSugar Press is all about creating the highest quality collections of poetry that paint a vibrant emotional portrait and contain a message that NEEDS to be shared. Each collection showcases a voice or voices that might be overlooked by a traditional publishing house; first-time authors, writers from under represented communities or writers on controversial or non-traditional topics. A team of published authors and educated editors work thoughtfully with each writer and focus on bringing the very best version of THEIR vision to reality. A PoemSugar Press book is guaranteed to be a powerful and beautiful journey.

PoemSugar Press accepts manuscript submissions during open reading times at least twice per year (generally March and September). PoemSugar Press publication includes working with the author on poem selection & arrangement, content editing, copy editing, layout & graphic design, creating an e-book, press releases & soliciting reviews, booking promotional readings and making the book available for sale both in person and on-line. We believe that the author should be integrally involved in every step of the process and that if a book deserves to be written, it certainly deserves to be read!

 

As time and staffing allows, PoemSugar also will consult with authors who wish to self-publish. PoemSugar Consulting Services are seperate from the main publishing company and are available year round. They make individual services available to authors who wish for assistance in the publishing process for reasonable fees.
